15 Nigerian Politicians That Would Sell Off Nigeria If Care Is Not Taken

617views

Make no doubt that the crop of politicians we have in Nigeria are businessmen who seek not the benefits of the people but the heaviness of their pockets.

This, being the case, there are some that show it to our faces that if selling off the entire country is the next way up for them, they are good to go without second thoughts.

Here are a few of them we have compiled in one piece. If there are more on this table, share with us in the comment section below.

1. Lai Mohammed: In his five years and counting as Minister of Information, Mohammed’s plans for the ministry has been more retrogressive than ever. Under his leadership, the National Broadcasting Commission has been used more as a weapon to oppress the people than to liberate them and drive in economic prosperity. So hilarious how he proposed $500 million for the digitalization of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).

2. Rotimi Amaechi: The strength in which the Minister of Transportation has defended foreign loans and warned against putting off country-lenders, despite knowing that Nigeria is at a tipping point financially, makes one wonder his stakes in all of it.

3. Ahmed Lawan: Lawan is the Senate President of the National Assembly. Since the inception of the 9th assembly under his leadership, the federal lawmakers have done nothing best than to approve series of ridiculous loans that set the country for jeopardy. Pretty sure if Buhari’s command were to sell off Nigeria, with all loyalty, Lawan will jump at it.

4. Mojisola Alli-Macaulay: Alli-Macaulay is a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly who recently accused youths of being jobless, lazy and high on drugs. This same lawmaker hoarded COVID-19 palliatives and shared same as gifts for her birthday party in 2020.

5. Mudashiru Obasa: With over 69 different bank accounts linked to this Speaker of the Lagos State of House of Assembly for alleged fraud, you cannot but stay frightened for the future of Nigeria. There’s no wondering what his answer would be if offered money to place Nigeria on a burning stake.

6. Diezani Allison-Madueke: I believe Amaechi is trailing the path of his predecessor, Diezani whose corruption cover was blown while in her latest position as minister of Petroleum Resources. Diezani is still under investigation for masterminding the diversion of the whooping sum of $6 billion (N1.2 trillion) from the Nigerian treasury. This is not even a question of selling off Nigeria again but a concluded fact that Nigeria is already sold.

7. Lucky Igbinedion: Igbinedion governed Edo state for 8 years (1999-2017) and suffer for the people of this state was an understatement.

8. Atiku Abubakar: Abubakar was the Vice of Olusegun Obasanjo from 1999-2007. Recall also that this administration was responsible for the privatization of major public enterprises and corporations which have all today taxed Nigerians to pay bills through their nostrils. One of such is the Power Distributing Company. Wahala for who no get generator. And guess one of the stakeholders in that industry? Abubakar!

9.  Ben Ayade: How this Cross River state governor is always particular about using noodles, rice and all manner of foodstuffs to empower people of the state is really baffling. This brings to mind, the situation of giving out the fish rather than teaching them how to fish in order to keep them trapped. Ayade was captured on tape crying wolf that his plans for the state in the first four years of his tenure did not materialize.

10. Babachir Lawal: This Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation allegedly gave a ₦200 million contract to his own company from monies meant to look after Internally Displaced Persons. Has still not been charged. A country with terrorism issues, having IDPs and still cannot fend for them while one man lives his life after looting in luxury.

11. Orji Kalu: Ex-governor of Abia state was prosecuted for looting ₦3.2 billion. But his jail term was later annulled and now, he is back at the Senate as the Chief Whip. Beware!

12. Senator Danjuma Goje: He was accused and charged by the EFCC to court for looting ₦25 billion. The allegations were later withdrawn by the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami after the senator stepped down for Ahmed Lawan to become President Senate in 2019.

13. Joshua Dariye: In 2007, EFCC dragged Dariye on 23 counts of money laundering involving alleged diversion of about N1.126billion Plateau State Government’s ecological funds. On Tuesday 12th June, 2018 the A federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Dariye to 14 years’ imprisonment which was later appealed and reduced to 10 years.

14. Murtala Nyako: This Former governor of Adamawa state was impeached by the State Assembly for allegedly embezzling a whopping sum of N29 billion. N29 billion!!!

15. Olisa Metuh: Ex-National Publicity Secretary of PDP was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment for receiving N400 million from money allotted for procurement of arms for the Nigerian army.
