Meghan Markle crowned Britain's top social climber

The Duchess of Sussex has been crowned Britain's top social climber by society magazine Tatler.

Meghan has reached 'the pinnacle of the greasy pole', it writes, describing her 'A-list ascent' to royalty.

'Not quite a rags-to-riches tale (she was privately educated and her scapegrace father won an Emmy for lighting direction) but the Ralph and Russo-clad beacon of change has found a role that suits her to perfection: A tungsten toughie to drag the Royal Family into the 21st century,' the magazine writes.

'She's been using people on her way up to what is now, of course, the top, which is marrying into the Royal Family.'

And Meghan's estranged half-sister Samantha Grant has also claimed becoming a princess was Meghan's 'ambition'.

Speaking in 2018, Miss Grant said: 'Hollywood has changed her.

'I think her ambition is to become a princess… it was something she dreamed of as a girl when we watched the royals on TV.
