Dolores Aveiro, Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, has travelled to Italy to support her son in Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final and has done so carrying a Sporting CP flag.
Aveiro has never hidden her love for Sporting, who became Portuguese champions last week for the first time in 19 years.
Now she is carrying the flag for the Lisbon club en route to Italy, where Ronaldo’s Juventus face Atalanta on Wednesday night (21:00 CEST).
While a return to the club he played for from age 12 to 18 is unlikely for Ronaldo this summer, his mother has said she’ll keep lobbying for it.
“I’ll speak to him, he’ll be at Sporting next year, I’ll convince him,” Aveiro told TVI24 amidst the title celebrations.
Ronaldo’s agent, on the other hand, has played down a move to the Lions in the near future.
“Cristiano is proud of the title Sporting won, as he has shown publicly,” Jorge Mendes told Record.
“But, for now, his plans don’t include Portugal.”
While speculation about the Portuguese star’s future rumbles on, especially after his fleet of luxury cars were seen leaving Turin, Ronaldo has plenty to keep him occupied on the pitch.
After the Coppa final on Wednesday, Juve face a trip to Bologna on Saturday as they hope to secure Champions League qualification on the final Serie A matchday.
