She’s an actress who’s perhaps known best for her portrayal of Rainbow ‘Bow’ Johnson in the comedy series “Mixed-ish”, created by Peter Saji, Tracee Ellis Ross and Kenya Barris, and which stars Tika Sumpter, Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Christina Anthony. It’s been running since 2019, and follows Rainbow’s parents Alicia and Paul who, after their hippie-like cult ceased to exist, were forced to move to the suburbs and raise their daughter there.

Arica is being raised in New York City alongside her sister Zoe, by their father Brandon and their mother Zelma. Zoe is also an actress, who made her debut film appearance with her portrayal of Claire in the 2019 short comedy film “Make Dating Great Again”, which she also wrote. The girls’ mother is a famous Liberian-born American musician, who’s probably known best for her band C+C Music Factory’s hit singles “Just a Touch of Love” and “Things That Make You Go Hmmm…” The band has won numerous awards, including two MTV Video Music Awards, five Billboard Music Awards, and four American Music Awards.
Arica became interested in acting even before enrolling at a local elementary school, and her parents let her practice at a community theatre. She appeared in her first off-Broadway play – “The Layover” – in 2016 aged 11, and Arica then went on to launch her TV acting career. She still focused on her education and is said to be amongst the best students at her high school. She launched her acting career in 2016 with her portrayal of Harper Morgan in all eight episodes of the comedy series “Thanksgiving”, created by Bethany Hall and Daniel Powell, and which starred Sebastian Conelli, Bridey Elliott and Chris Elliott. It follows a dysfunctional family spending their Thanksgiving holiday together.
Three years later, Arica played Olivia in the 2019 comedy drama movie “Before You Know It”, written and directed by Hannah Pearl Utt, who also starred in it alongside Ayden Mayeri and Oona Yaffe. The film follows two sisters who have just discovered that their mother who was believed to be dead is actually alive and well, and is starring in a soap opera. It was nominated for four awards.
Also in 2019, Arica played Lindsay Levy in the episode “Return to Sender” of the critically acclaimed fantasy comedy series “God Friended Me”, created by Bryan Wynbrandt and Steven Lillen, and which starred Brandon Micheal Hall, Suraj Sharma and Violett Beane. The series follows an atheist who gets a friendly request on Facebook from God – it won two of the four awards it was nominated for.
Arica’s only other acting credit has been in the 2020 episode “Friendgame” of the hit comedy series “Black-ish”, created by Kenya Barris, and which stars Anthony Anderson, Marcus Scribner and Tracee Ellis Ross.
