Burna Boy Releases Video For Hit Single Monsters You Made

Burna Boy released his new album Twice As Tall, via the stables of Atlantic Records. This body of work finds the African star challenging the status quo with his fiery lyricism and a bold, defiant stance that positions him as a revolutionary looking to take down the oppressive system.

One of the best songs off the Burna Boy album song is the Chris Martin-featuring “Monsters You Made,” on which Burna Boy takes issue with 600-plus years of colonialism. In the new video for the song released today, he makes it plain, with imagery invoking militias the world over.

The video however comes along at a coincidental  moment, with outrages that seemed to have toned down over the summer but flaring up once again in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake at the hands of the Kenosha, Wisconsin police department.

The plot In the video, shows Burna’s militia intercept a money truck convoy, collecting the stacks of bills into a building-sized pile and setting it ablaze. In other words, Burna boy is depicting the hands of capitalism in the racially-motivated oppression of Black people specifically in Africa.

However, this oppression broadly extends the world over. Through the video, The African Giant pointed out that the only justice to be served out is only done so when the money is threatened.
