The cause of death for former child actor and “Our Idiot Brother” star Matthew Mindler has been established.
Eric Bieber of the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center verified to USA TODAY on Thursday that the 19-year-old died by suicide.
Mindler was a student at Millersville University in Pennsylvania when he went missing in late August after failing to return to his room.
Mindler’s death was revealed later that week by University President Daniel A. Wubah. According to university spokesperson Janet Kacskos, Mindler’s corpse was located in a forested area near campus.
Mindler, from Hellertown, Pennsylvania, was a first-year university student. On August 24, he was last seen going out of his dorm.
After he didn’t show up to any of his classes for the remainder of the week, university police filed a missing adult report. According to Kacskos, more than 40 search and rescue personnel were deployed to find him.
