The weekend was not a good one for fans of Chelsea football club. What was meant to be a weekend of happiness and merriment turned sour in a space of two days? The Blues lost out in major finals both on the male and female side.
On Saturday the male side took on Leicester City in the FA Cup final only to get beaten by a lone goal. Despite controlling possession, Chelsea couldn’t score a single goal. The only one they manage to get was ruled offside by VAR.
Less than 24 hours later, Chelsea Women also lost emphatically in the Women’s Champions League final. They were beaten 4-0 by Barcelona, with all four goals coming in the first half.
Before these defeats, both teams were looking formidable and unbeatable. But all changed in a space of two days after having one thing in common – the new jersey.
Few days before both finals, Chelsea unveiled their new home jersey for next season and both male and female teams launched it in their respective finals.
How do you explain losing two finals in two days? The new jersey is a sign of bad luck as far as I’m concerned.
Even when the kit was unveiled, most Chelsea fans were not happy with the new look and design and now it has cost them two finals. They should have continued with the old jersey, waiting till next season before launching the new jersey.
Well, another final awaits on the 29th of March and if they don’t want another cup defeat, Chelsea should better wear the old jersey against Manchester City.
