Nigerian Footballer Slumps, Dies On The Pitch During League Match Ambulance Failed To Start

A Nigerian footballer has tragically died during a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match on Sunday.

This is not a good news for Nigerian as the budding talent passed away after medics had tried their possible best to revive him.

Central defender Chineme Martins was rated as one of the stand out players in the Nasarawa United.

However, after cementing his place in the Solid Miners set up, Chinese Martins passed away on Sunday afternoon after collapsing while playing for Nasarawa United against Katsina United at the Lafia City Stadium.

The defender didn’t show any sign of any illness during warm up, but sources confirmed that the harsh condition at the artificial turf of the Lafia City Stadium might have caused the death of the promising talent.

Martins collapsed on the field in the first half before being rushed to hospital where he was declared dead.

His death overshadowed a dominant display by the Solid Miners who won 3-0 thanks to a hat trick from former Heartland striker Chinedu Ohanachom.
