Rema’s “Lady” Overtakes “Parte After Parte” to Become Number One on Opera’s Mdundo Top 100 List

Rema, became a sensation after he was signed to Jonzing World, a new imprint under the Don Jazzy-led Mavin Records and he released his first hits, “Dumebi” and “Why”, later following up with “Iron Man.” All big hits in their right.

His biggest break however came after he was nominated for the Next Rated category at the Headies 2019 Awards. He dropped an EP, “Bad Commando”, from which the hit “Lady” was from.

“Lady” was an instant hit and it bevome one of the biggest jams in the country, even as Remawent on to defeat guys like Zlatan Ibile, Fireboyand Joeboy to win the Next Rated Award. In November, the video for “Lady” was released on YouTube and in two months, it’s amassed a whooping 1.9m views.

Just this morning, I noticed “Lady” is now on top of the Mdundo Top 100 Nigeria, hosted on Opera Mini. Earlier, the number one used to be “Parte After Parte” by Big Tril.

In fact, weeks ago, “Lady” wasn’t even top 10. This shows the song is still blowing up and Rema is not going anywhere.

The rest of the list has songs from Joeboy, Naira Marley, Simi, Olamide and Lucky Dube. Apparently, Lucky’s “Remember Me” is still being played in Nigeria.
