Charles Carver ‘Charlie’ Martensen was born in San Francisco, California USA, on 31 July 1988 – his zodiac sign is Leo and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor who’s probably known best for his portrayal of Porter Scavo in the mystery comedy series “Desperate Housewives” created by Marc Cherry, and which starred Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross. It follows the lives of several neighboring women after one of their neighbors commits suicide. The series aired from 2004 to 2012 (Charlie joined the cast in 2008), and won 66 awards including three Golden Globes, while it was nominated for 189 other awards.

Charlie is very secretive when it comes to his love life – it was in 2016 that he came out as gay with the help of his Instagram account. He has stated that he was afraid of coming out of the closet at first because of how it might affect his career, however, he eventually decided to do it regardless.
Charlie hasn’t mentioned any men he has perhaps been with, but there are rumors circulating the internet that the popular actor might be in a relationship today. Early life and education
Charlie was raised in San Francisco alongside his younger identical twin brother Max, by their father Robert Martensen who was an American author, historian and physician, and their mother Anne Carver who is a community activist and a philanthropist.
When Charlie was four, his mother married her second husband Denis Sutro and the family moved to Calistoga in the Napa Valley. He attend St. Paul’s Boarding School (high school) in Concord in New Hampshire, but soon switched to Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. Upon matriculating in 2007, Charlie enrolled at the University of Southern California, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre in 2012, meantime practicingd his acting skills at the American Conservatory Theatre.

Charlie became interested in acting aged 14, when he appeared in the school play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” portraying Puck, a fairy trickster.
He made his debut film appearance in 2012, with his portrayal of Hugh Thompson in the family comedy “Fred 3: Camp Fred” but which received poor reviews. In 2013, Charlie played Dylan in the biographical drama “Restless Virgins”, and he also appeared as John Handon III in the family sports drama “Underdogs”. The year 2014 saw him play Eric in the action comedy “Bad Ass 2: Bad Asses”, written and directed by Craig Moss, and which starred Danny Trejo, Danny Glover and Jeremy Ray Valdez. It follows Frank Vega and Bernie Pope as they are cleaning up criminals on the streets of Los Angeles.
In 2015, Charlie portrayed Tyler in the popular biographical romantic drama “I Am Michael”, which starred James Franco and Emma Roberts, and follows the life of a gay man who becomes heterosexual, and starts working as a Christian pasto; the movie won eight awards and was nominated for three others.
Charlie next appeared in the 2016 short music video “The Black Eyed Peas: #WHERESTHELOVE (Feat. The World)”, and in 2017 he played Nathaniel in the comedy “Fist Fight” starring Ice Cube and Charlie Day, and which follows a school teacher challenged by another teacher to a fight. Charlie’s role in “Desperate Housewives” was also his debut TV series appearance, then in 2014 he was cast to play Scott Frost in the mystery fantasy drama “The Leftovers”, created by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, and which starred Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman and Christopher Eccleston. It follows the people of New York trying to go on with their lives after two percent of the Earth’s population mysteriously disappears.
The series won 10 awards and was nominated for 70 others, including a Primetime Emmy.
Charlie went on to make guest appearances in single episodes of various series, such as the action crime drama “Hawaii Five-0”, the sports comedy “The League”, and the drama mini-series “When We Rise”. From 2013 to 2017, he portrayed the supporting character Ethan Steiner in the action fantasy drama “Teen Wolf”, created by Jeff Davis and which starred Tyler Posey, Holland Roden and Dylan O’Brien; it follows two teenagers one of whom was bitten by a werewolf which made his life a lot more complicated than before. The series won 23 awards out of the 62 it was nominated for.
Charlie’s most recent role in a TV series has been in eight episodes of the 2020 mystery crime drama “Ratched”, which is set in 1947 and follows the life of Mildred Ratched after she starts working as a nurse at a leading psychiatric hospital. The series has been nominated for seven awards, including three Oscars.
Charlie received special thanks for the 2019 comedy movie “The Planters”.
